Ego Spinner – Update 7

If you recall…

In the last update I showed you the blank “discs” that your Ego spinner is going to machined out of.

And now, with very fast progress, we have a bunch of Ego spinners machined – check out these little beasts:

Oh, also, the bearings have been ordered and should be here soon (but not before the next update).

Because the Ego spinner has been upgraded to dual-bearings I’ve had to order twice as many bearings as initially planned – but I really believe it’s worth it for this particular spinner.

I’m going to do some testing with the tumbling of these to seen if I can fit more than one at a time in the tumbler.

You see… tumbling is a peculiar process. Every product is different. Some products, particular if they are small, I can put in 100 at a time effortlessly. But with others I can only put one at a time in the tumbler.

Sometimes they will hit into each other …or they can scratch each other …or they can stick to each other …or they can tangle-up with each other. So, yeah, I’m never sure until I actually do the tumbling.

Right, I think that’s me done, I’m off to bed so I can get up early and start testing this tumbling.

I think that’s it for this update.

    My god that’s beautiful.

  • Jk says:

I’d like to get it quickly.

  • Jordan Steffanson says:

Cool I think I see mine

  • Marco says:

Fantastic! Great to see this evolving 🙂

  • k horie says:

Efficiency is poor when tumbling one by one, but if you do tumbling together, it will crash and it seems that there will be scratches.
Is it impossible to attach a partition of soft material?
Anyway, I am looking forward to completion!

  • k horie says:

one more.I think that there is process of polish after tumbling, but will it be a perfect mirror finish?I like a slightly cloudy finish, so I’m happy to have such an option.
I want to see the finished product as soon as possible!

  • Mark Gamble says:

    They look stunning mate …

  • Boris says:

maybe if you start tumbling you can put a rubber tube through the bearing holes or something to keep them apart from each other. It’s not really that important that the inside of those bearing holes gets polished is it ? Anyway it’s just an idea 🙂 keep up the great work!

  • Justin says:

Thanks for the update, seems like the process is flying by now.

What bearing did you decide on? Hybrid or SS?

Thanks for all the hard work to you and your machinist!

  • Tycho says:

Would have loved photo’s of the actual machining but more importantly I don’t want a mirror polished Finnish. I really don’t like the look of fingerprints and matte is more my style. Thank you and I miss your youtube video’s

    • Tristan says:

I agree about the mirror finish. Considering we’l be handling these spinners a lot, I’d rather sacrifice shine for a finish that’s less prone to leaving fingerprints.

  • Sherry says:

I like a matte finish as well. Glad to see the progress!!! Thanks Magnus!!!

  • Matt says:

This is the most anticipated spinner I’ve bought. Can’t believe how good they look already!!!

  • steve mullinix says:

Lets not forget we paid this gentleman for his skill and dedication to perfection. Patience is a virtue best spent on excellence. Thanks in advance for your dedication and effort.

  • joe says:

Awesome job Magnus! They are looking marvelous!

  • Hugh says:

They’re looking beautiful Magnus!! I think you should give us a YouTube video on the making of these beauties. I’m excited to see mine in my hand once perfection has been reached. Keep up the good work sir.

  • Severin says:

    Hi Magnus
Any news when you will send the spinner? December have started and there is no update… 😉
    Best regards

  • Heiko says:

Yeah any news about the spinner?

    All the best, Heiko

  • Chris says:

What’s the deal? You could just give us a small update.

  • Boris says:

    hey magnus,

    Whats up man?
    You didn’t get over-stressed I’m hoping?
    an update would be nice

    greetings from the Netherlands

  • Ian says:

What is the status of the Ego being shipped? We haven’t had an update in awhile and expected delivery was a couple months ago.
